Born and raised a "Jersey Girl" but like Black Shelton says, "We all got a hillbilly bone" hahah ! I guess that lyrics has a lot to say !!
Well Growing up in New Jersey, the question comes up all the time, "Corey, what in the world made you start singing country Music".... I was in about 4th grade when my crazy Uncle Paul and I would drive to the beach with the windows open BLASTING music... Country Music that was. I'll be honest, at 10 years old that was SO not my choice. I was suppose to be blasting The Backstreet Boys, The Spices Girls or even Nsync ! But there was something about that Dixie Chicks FLY album that made me fall in love with country music. I remember loving the way that every single song told a story and the way that their voices just blended together so perfectly between the melodies and the harmonies. It was at that moment when I realized that I wanted to one day write, play and sing country music.
After living with that album for about two years, I became brave and started to dig through some of my dads favorite music ! Discovered artists like Alabama, Kenny Rogers, The Eagles and soooo many more ! Growing up with a music loving family has definitely made me experience different genres, artists, and songs that I might have never even come across!
So, here I am, 7 years after that car ride, still loving, singing, and even creating country music !!!
